Data Skaters Launches First Prototype Experience with MFNERC and Dell Technologies

Lotus 8 Esports is proud to announce the successful prototype launch of the first-ever Data Skaters experience in partnership with MFNERC – Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre and Dell Technologies on April 9th - April 10th 2026.

This past week, Lotus 8 Founder Steven Vuong joined Karl Hildebrandt of MFNERC alongside Dell Technologies team members Katina Papulkas, David Hay, and Peter Beens at Dakota Plains First Nation to begin testing and developing the Data Skaters prototype experience. The early feedback from students, staff, and partners has already created excitement for what is to come as the initiative continues to grow into more First Nations communities.

Data Skaters is a next-generation hockey, gaming, and AI performance experience that allows students to participate in hockey shooting drills, player performance tracking, fantasy team building, NHL simulations, and personalized hockey data card creation. The program is built around First Nations-led data sovereignty principles and OCAP®-aligned practices to ensure privacy, respect, and community ownership remain at the center of the experience.

The project also integrates Lotus 8’s PMM (Performance Mindset & Mindfulness) wellness system, combining performance meditation, mobility, mindset development, and healthy lifestyle education with modern gaming and technology experiences. Through this approach, Lotus 8 aims to bridge wellness, esports, sports performance, and education into one innovative youth-focused program.

The launch of the Data Skaters prototype marks another major step toward expanding modern technology opportunities for youth across Manitoba First Nations communities. Lotus 8, MFNERC, and Dell Technologies look forward to continuing development throughout 2026 as the program prepares for a larger rollout in schools this fall 2026.
